Welcome to the American Kenpo Alliance (AKA) Karate System

Welcome — I’m glad you’re here. This member homepage is meant to help you settle in, find your next lesson, and train at a steady pace through the AKA Karate System.

Use this page as your orientation hub. Whether you’re reviewing basics, working by rank, looking for a specific self-defense technique, or preparing for testing, start here and follow the category that best matches where you are in your training.

Tip: If you are new, begin with the beginner-level lessons and the “Get Started” guidance before moving deeper into the curriculum. If you are returning, use the categories below like a quick training directory.

Start here

This page is organized like a member welcome area, not a sales page. Use it to choose your next training path and find the support you need.

1. Choose your level

Begin with the rank or category that fits your current training. If you’re unsure, start at the beginning and build a strong foundation.

2. Train by category

Use the training categories below like dropdowns: open a section, review what belongs there, and move into the lesson area that matches your goal.

3. Ask for help

If you get stuck, have a testing question, or want private instruction, reach out. The goal is steady progress, not rushing through material.

Training categories

Open the category that fits what you want to work on today. These sections approximate the dropdown-style training navigation from the original member experience.

Beginner Level

Start here for fundamentals, basic movement, stance work, introductory techniques, and the early lessons that help you build a strong Kenpo foundation.

Intermediate Level

Use this section when you are ready to connect basics into more complete combinations, improve timing, and expand your understanding of the system.

Advanced Level

Advanced lessons are for deeper refinement: sharper transitions, improved flow, and a more complete command of technique details.

Expert Level

Expert-level material is for experienced students reviewing higher-level concepts, precision, application, and teaching-level understanding.

Self-Defense Techniques

Find practical technique lessons and application-focused training here. Review slowly, pay attention to positioning, and practice safely with a qualified partner when appropriate.

Forms

Use the forms section to study sequence, structure, rhythm, and the lessons contained inside each movement.

Sets

Sets help isolate important skills and principles. They are excellent for repetition, memory, and clean technical development.

Sport Fighting

Use this area for sparring-related lessons, timing, distance, movement, and sport-fighting development within the system.

Miscellaneous

Additional lessons, updates, and helpful member resources can live here when they do not fit neatly into one of the rank or category paths above.

Using your membership

Your membership is here to help you train consistently. Move by rank when you want structure, browse categories when you want a specific skill, and use search when you already know what you’re looking for.

Curriculum by rank and category

Follow the system in order, or use the category structure to review the material you need most today.

App access

If you train from the Kajabi app, use it to keep the curriculum close by and review lessons wherever you are able to practice safely.

Private lessons, testing, and support

Training is personal. If you need clarification, want private instruction, or have questions about testing, please reach out before guessing your way forward.

Private lessons

Private lessons can help you refine details, correct habits, and get individual feedback on the material you are studying.

Testing

If you are preparing for a rank test, review the required curriculum carefully and ask about expectations before submitting or scheduling.

Questions are welcome

Members should feel comfortable asking questions. Clear communication helps keep the training safe, respectful, and productive.

Books and additional study

For members who want extra reference material, Barry’s book is available on Amazon. Use it as a companion resource alongside the video curriculum and your regular practice.
